Transfer expert provides fresh Cristiano Ronaldo transfer update following contract termination claims

A fresh update on the future of Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged on Monday.

Ronaldo is determined to depart Manchester United this summer after just one season back at Old Trafford now the club do not have Champions League football, and his record of most goals scored in the competition is at stake.

CR7 did not report to the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to ‘family reasons’.

United then started without a striker vs Brighton in gameweek one due to Anthony Martial’s injury, but Ronaldo did come on from the bench.

The forward was then handed his first start of 2022/23 on Saturday as Manchester United were smashed 4-0 by Brentford.

Then, on Sunday, Sky Sports News ran with a report that Manchester United were considering terminating Ronaldo’s deal if his attitude did not change.

Sky have since removed the Tweet they posted about that. And now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Monday:

“Unsurprisingly, the Cristiano Ronaldo speculation continues, with some talk now of Manchester United possibly terminating his contract,” Romano said.

“However, my understanding so far, based on what’s emerging from Manchester United, is that Cristiano Ronaldo is part of the project and there is no intention of parting ways with him. This is the thinking within the club, with Erik ten Hag who has always defended him so far.

“Certainly, the Ronaldo situation has not been easy to manage for two months now but I believe that the main problems for Manchester United are in other areas.”
