Tottenham’s plans for January transfer window revealed

An insight into Tottenham’s plans for the upcoming January transfer window has been provided this weekend.

Tottenham’s summer window

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a fairly active summer transfer window on both the incoming and outgoing fronts.

Spurs would see all of Joe Hart, Erik Lamela, Paulo Gazzaniga, Moussa Sissoko, Toby Alderweireld and Serge Aurier head for the exit door.

On the arrivals front, meanwhile, Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal, Pape Sarr, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero were secured.

Spurs also saw Oliver Skipp return from a successful loan spell with Norwich, with the midfielder having since become a key figure for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Tottenham’s plans for January revealed

All told, though, Spurs’ summer signings have so far enjoyed varying degrees of success. Pape Sarr has been loaned out, so he will be unable to show what he is capable of in north London this season.

Elsewhere, Emerson and Romero have been the most active signings when it comes to playing time, though the former’s minutes have been limited somewhat due to quarantine issues brought about by the September international break.

Now, though, as mentioned above, an insight into Tottenham’s plans for the January window has been provided.

The update comes courtesy of The Athletic, who have revealed that Spurs will try to sign an attacking player following the turn of the year:

The Athletic understands the club will try and sign an attacking player in January, having tried and failed to do so in the summer.

It is added that someone like Wolves’ Adama Traore ‘fits the bill’:
