Will Spurs ever make a signing?!
For a few weeks now, Tottenham have been linked with Estudiantes 19-year-old defender Juan Foyth.
Spurs are right now the only side in the Premier League not have made a summer signing. A fact which is a concern to their fan base, despite the quality side Mauricio Pochettino has built.
The sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City last Friday, for a world record fee for a defender, will likely see Tottenham make some moves.
Spurs have been heavily linked with Ross Barkley in recent days and the rumours surrounding Foyth continue to swirl in Argentina.
Juan Foyth confirms Tottenham negotiations
In an interview with El Dia on the weekend, Juan Foyth has confirmed that his club Estudiantes are in negotiations with Tottenham.
There have been strong rumours that Estudiantes representatives – including former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Veron – had been in London to negotiate with Tottenham.
And, that Foyth would be Tottenham’s first signing of the summer.
Tottenham’s opening offer for Juan Foyth rejected by Estudiantes
In recent hours, Fernando Serrano, a journalist for Argentine radio station Le Redonda reported that Tottenham’s opening offer for Foyth has been rejected.
Tottenham’s initial offer of £5.3 million plus £2.3 million in bonuses was rejected by Estudiantes for Juan Foyth.
This has led to some Spurs fans to react badly on social media.
Will Spurs complete a deal for Juan Foyth?
After all, if Spurs cannot agree a “small” deal such as this one, what hope do they have to conclude moves such as the one for Ross Barkley.
Foyth, who is just 19, publicly admitted he didn’t want to know anything about how negotiations were progressing.
Estudiantes have a key Copa Libertadores match against Nacional Potosi this coming Thursday.
