Tottenham’s second summer signing inadvertently revealed

The hairdresser of Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has revealed via their Instagram account that the Argentinan is on the move and has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks.

Destination: London

Although the location of his next club has not yet been revealed, it is clear that Gazzaniga is heading for N17 in North London.

Sky Sports understand that Spurs are closing on his signature, as they look to add their second recruit of the summer.

Tottenham are believed to be signing the keeper in a deal worth around £2m.

Argentine connections

Tottenham have been linked with the keeper who has clear links with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino choosing Gazzaniga isn’t too surprising either in the sense that the pair are both of the same nationality and have previously worked together during Pochettino’s time on the South coast.

Why Gazzaniga?

Most Tottenham fans will be scratching their heads wondering why they are targeting a reserve keeper from Southampton.

Having failed in their attempts to convince Pau Lopez to join permanently from Espanyol, Pochettino is hoping to add a third senior level goalkeeper.

Academy talents Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman have spent time with the club’s first-team over the summer, but with both still, only 18 years of age, neither are yet ready for senior level football.

Therefore, in this instance, Pochettino is adding an insurance option should worst come to worst in the goalkeeper department.
