Tottenham boss Mourinho plays down Winks exit talk amid claims Valencia have made offers for midfielder
Jose Mourinho has moved to play down speculation linking Harry Winks with a Tottenham exit.
Winks linked with Tottenham exit
Harry Winks hasn’t had a great 2020/21 campaign so far.
The midfielder actually stood as quite a prominent figure for Spurs over the early weeks of the campaign.
However, he has since struggled for any sort of regular football.
Winks has featured quite heavily in the Europa League, and has been handed more chances over the hectic winter period.
However, it remains clear that he still doesn’t represent one of Jose Mourinho’s favoured midfield options.
This, in turn, has led to speculation of late that Winks could move on in the near future.
Everton have previously been credited with interest in the Englishman, whilst reports on Monday suggested that La Liga outfit Valencia had tabled a second offer for the Tottenham man:
Today #Valenciacf has made a second offer for #HarryWinks after first one was rejected. They are willing to pay the whole of his wages but the loan payment asked by #Spurs makes the deal very unlikely at the moment. Player stuck: not wanted by manager, can’t leave pic.twitter.com/ds1NkbTs9S

Mourinho responds to Winks transfer talk
On Tuesday, though, Jose Mourinho has moved to play down such links.
Spurs are set to face Fulham on Wednesday.
During his pre-match press conference, meanwhile, the Spurs boss was drawn on the recent transfer speculation surrounding Winks.
Mourinho, however, was quick to pour cold water on the rumours, explaining:
“(Laughs) What do I have to say to stop with this talk? I said already that he’s going nowhere. When I say he’s going nowhere, what more do you want me to say? He played the last matches. He didn’t play the last one because it was a chance to let players like Gedson get minutes. Tomorrow he’s selected again. If someone’s talking to other clubs I’d say don’t waste your time.”
