Here we go again…
It’s a case of deja vu in the Sun on Sunday, as the tabloid report that Tottenham will target Southampton’s Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama in January.
Spurs chased Wanyama during the summer transfer window to no avail, and last week reports were rife that Wanyama had decided to focus on his future with the Saints.
Indeed, Wanyama gave quotes to the press fuelling belief he’ll stay at St Mary’s for some time, as he told the media:
I just don’t want to remember that situation. Now I’ve forgotten what happened. I’m now progressing at my club and it’s been good, so I’m looking forward to putting in good performances.
Barely a week later, and the Sun are reporting that Tottenham intend to try again this winter to sign the 24-year-old. The tabloid has farted:
Victor Wanyama will snub a new contract from Southampton in a bid to land a move to Tottenham… Wanyama has his heart set on Spurs and his former boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to come knocking again in January.
Tottenham and Southampton are current eighth and ninth in the Premier League respectively.
Spurs are scheduled to play Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday, while the Saints will face Leicester this weekend.
