Tottenham celebrate v APOEL at Wembley

Tottenham’s Sheffield United loan option after Toby Alderweireld’s bad news

Tottenham & Toby Alderweireld

News filtered out of Tottenham on Tuesday regarding the health of Belgian centre-half Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld has been out of action since the Champions League match against Real Madrid at Wembley.

And it’s now been revealed that Alderweireld could be out of commission for Spurs for another couple of months.

The defender isn’t expected to be fit enough to play until February.

Sheffield United’s Cameron Carter-Vickers

One of the options facing Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is whether to recall Cameron Carter-Vickers from his loan spell at Sheffield United.

The Argentine was asked about Carter-Vickers at his presser on Tuesday before the Brighton game.

Pochettino refused to rule out cutting the defender’s loan spell short at Bramall Lane.

19-year-old Cameron Carter-Vickers has made 13 appearances for Sheffield United in the Championship this season.

The American international has scored once in the league and chipped in with two assists. He’s also only picked up one booking this season.

Tottenham vs Brighton

Tottenham got their bid for a place in the top four well and truly back on track with all results going in their favour and a win of their own over the weekend.

Spurs are within just two points of the top four now after their resounding win over Stoke.

Opposition Brighton are without a win in five, but a strong start to life in the top flight sees them comfortably away from the bottom three for now.

The Seagulls, who have suffered consecutive defeats, will know that anything other than defeat at Wembley will be a big bonus.
