Tottenham Hotspur are expected to push a deal for the club's first summer signing over the line by the end of the week, according to reports.

The player primed to put pen to paper on terms with the Lilywhites? Fraser Forster.

As per a report from the reliable Mike McGrath of The Daily Telegraph, a medical has been arranged for shot-stopper Forster in north London over the days ahead.

This comes with the 34-year-old set to call time on his eight-year spell with Premier League rivals Southampton, upon the expiration of his contract at St. Mary's at the end of the month.

A full agreement, in turn, is expected to be struck with Tottenham before the week is out.

News of Forster's imminent arrival in the English capital comes with the current back-up option to Hugo Lloris, Pierluigi Gollini, in line for a return to Atalanta on the back of an underwhelming loan stint in the Premier League.

Spurs building

Spurs' latest efforts on the transfer front of course come fresh on the back of the capital outfit's project under the watch of Antonio Conte taking a crucial step in the right direction 24 hours ago.

After making the trip to Carrow Road for the club's final outing of the Premier League campaign, Conte's troops eventually emerged on the right side of a hefty 5-0 scoreline, owing to goals from all of Dejan Kulusevski (2). Son Heung-min (2) and Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites, in turn, made official their return to the Champions League, pipping city rivals Arsenal to 4th spot by two points.
