Tottenham place attacking midfielder ‘top of their summer shopping list’

Tottenham are interested in the services of Lovro Majer, according to reports stemming from France.

Who is Majer?

Lovro Majer would sign for current club Stade Rennais in August of 2021.

The French outfit are understood to have paid close to £11m to sign the midfielder from Croatian powerhouse, Dinamo Zagreb.

For Zagreb, Majer racked up 19 goals and 25 assists in 99 outings across all competitions.

And since, for Rennes, the 23-year-old has so far scored one and assisted two in nine outings this term, missing a number of games due to injury.

One of the fixtures missed by Majer actually came in the form of his club’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the Europa Conference League.

Despite his absence for that clash, though, it appears that Spurs are interested in signing the attacking midfielder.

According to the Mirror, citing French outlet Homme du Match, all of Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Manchester United are interested in the Croatian.

It is added that Tottenham are currently the ‘most interested’ of this trio, with the Lilywhites having placed Majer at the top of their summer shopping list.

A formation change on the cards for Tottenham?

If Spurs are indeed targeting Majer, could this mean that Antonio Conte is looking to change up his system in north London?

Majer is most suited to a central attacking midfield role, a position which Tottenham do not currently make use of in their 3-4-3.

However, Conte enjoyed success at Inter Milan with a 3-5-2 that included a CAM. Could we see the Italian revert to such a system with the signing of Majer?
