Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham have this evening been granted permission to open discussions with the entourage of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to a report from @GetFrenchFootball.
Seri, a 12-time capped Ivory Coast international, was one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 as Les Aiglons secured a shock Champions League place for next season.
Controlling proceedings from the middle of midfield for the entirety of his side’s stellar campaign, the diminutive 25-year-old playmaker racked up 7 goals and 9 assists, catching the eye of some of Europe’s biggest sides in the process.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a huge admirer of the creative talents of Seri, with the Argentinian coach having placed the Elephants star at the top of his midfield wishlist for this summer.
Big Money required
AS Roma have reportedly already seen a bid of 25 million Euro rejected for Seri, with Lucien Favre’s side holding out for no less than the 40 million Euro buyout clause included in the midfielder’s contract.
Along with Spurs, North London rivals Arsenal are also said to be keeping tabs on Seri, while La Liga giants Barcelona see the former Pacos de Ferreira star as the ideal backup in the case that their chase of PSG midfielder Marco Verratti falls through.
