Tottenham, Man United & Everton
With a week until the January transfer window opens, it’s no surprise to see a transfer rumour on the back of the Sunday Express.
The Express have an awful record of getting transfer stories correct.
So perhaps in an effort to finally land a truthful tale, they’ve dredged up an old set of stories which have been circling for a while.
First is the claim Luke Shaw could leave Man United for Spurs.
The second story is the Everton’s Ross Barkley could sign for the Lillywhites.
Luke Shaw & Ross Barkley
Both Shaw and Barkley do seem to fit into the type of players Mauricio Pochettino signs.
Shaw is still just 22, while Barkley is also young at 24.
And it’s unclear what the future holds for both England international with their current clubs.
Although Shaw was on the bench for Man United’s 2-2 draw at Leicester, the left-back seems outside of Jose Mourinho’s thinking this season. And probably longer than that too.
As for Barkley, he’s been out all season with injury. But if he was fit, how often would he have played for the Toffees.
With Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney at Goodison Park, how does Barkley fit into the team?
Off to Spurs in January?
The Express claim Tottenham will “launch a double January transfer swoop for Ross Barkley and Luke Shaw”.
Barkley is also linked to Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham by the tabloid.
Newcastle are linked to Shaw, who is said to be available for 25 million pounds.
Man United hope to invest their Shaw money signing Fulham’s starlet Ryan Sessegnon.
