Tottenham amongst clubs credited with interest in Stuttgart’s Gonzalez

A report in the English media on Monday has linked Tottenham with Stuttgart’s Nicolas Gonzalez.

Tottenham amongst clubs credited with interest in Stuttgart’s Gonzalez

Gonzalez’s Stuttgart stint

Nicolas Gonzalez joined VFB Stuttgart in the summer of 2018 for around £7m, securing a move to Europe from his home country of Argentina.

The 22-year-old has since gone on to enjoy a decent stint in Germany, notching 73 appearances across all competitions.

Across these outings, Gonzalez has managed to net 22 goals and provide 10 assists – a solid record for a fairly young player who is often deployed on the wing.

Gonzalez is actually capable of lining out anywhere across a front-three, and has, for the most-part, been afforded a central berth thus far this season.

In turn, the gifted attacker has gone on to rack up five goals and two assists in just 10 Bundesliga outings.

Tottenham eyeing Gonzalez

As such, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to hear of Gonzalez piquing the interest of some of Europe’s top clubs.

According to The Athletic, Leeds United were keen on the attacker during the summer window.

Now, though, it is claimed that more recent discussions have taken place over a potential move to either Tottenham or Juventus.

As things stand, however, negotiations remain at a preliminary stage.

In terms of a potential fee for Gonzalez, The Athletic claim that Stuttgart would be hopeful of securing around €30m.

With Spurs of course already boasting a plethora of options across the club’s frontline, though, should the Lilywhites realistically be considering investing such a significant sum in another forward, or would their money perhaps be better spent elsewhere… At centre-half, perhaps?
