Tottenham & Aston Villa
With a little over a week to go before the start of the Premier League season, Tottenham stand out like a sore thumb in the summer transfer market.
In something of a major roll of the dice, Spurs are the only club in the Premier League who are yet to sign a new player.
Some find this hugely refreshing. In a summer where transfer fees have gone through the roof, Mauricio Pochettino has sent out a clear message that he backs his current Spurs squad, while the club seem happy to back their youth players to make a difference in the first team.
Saying that, it would surprise few if Tottenham do bring in one or two new players before the window closes; this week’s big rumour saw Spurs linked with Diego Simeone’s son.
But against that backdrop, it’s now being reported that Tottenham and Aston Villa have reached a deal for Josh Onomah to swap clubs.
What’s the story?
Onomah’s move to Aston Villa was trumpeted by the Mirror’s Darren Lewis on Thursday night on social media.

The 20-year-old has already boosted his reputation this summer, starring for England U20 in their triumphant World Cup campaign in South Korea.
Onomah is a highly versatile player, who can operate in all areas of midfield.
That will clearly be a boost for Aston Villa, who have lost Jack Grealish for two to three months just before the start of the new Championship season.
To be clear, Onomah’s Aston Villa move is yet to be confirmed by the clubs, but it feels like the loan deal is close to completion.
The youngster is under contract at Spurs for another three years.
Aston Villa kick off their new season on Saturday with a home match against Hull.
