RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner
The 2018 World Cup could be enormous for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Werner is battling it out to be Germany’s main attacking threat in Russia this summer.
For club and country this season, 22-year-old Werner has scored 20 goals in 34 matches this season.
In total Werner has scored 37 goals in 65 appearances for Leipzig since his £8 million move from Stuttgart in 2016.
The forward’s current contract expires in 2020, and Leipzig are trying their best to sign him up to a new deal.
Man United preference over Liverpool
But in the latest edition of FourFourTwo magazine, Timo Werner has openly discussed moving to the Premier League.
Werner has opened himself up to a Man United move, while distancing himself from a possible Liverpool switch:
Yes, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs.
But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though.
Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England.
They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of, because they have so much history. When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and were outstanding.
Of course, Liverpool already have relations with RB Leipzig. When the season closes, Naby Keita will complete his move from the Bundesliga side to join the Reds on a four year contract.
