Thierry Henry may pinch Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi at Bordeaux – RMC Sport

Thierry Henry & Bordeaux

The big news out of France on Wednesday lunchtime is that Arsenal hero Thierry Henry has agreed to take the Bordeaux job.

Bordeaux are looking for a new manager after Gus Poyet was recently suspended.

Poyet has been iced out of Bordeaux after he complained about the club’s owners.

Poyet lost his cool after Gaëtan Laborde was sold. He publicly called the transfer “a disgrace”.

Of course, Bordeaux also sold Malcom to Barcelona in the summer.

A few days ago, Arsene Wenger spoke about Thierry Henry taking the reigns at Bordeaux.

Now RMC Sport are reporting that Henry has agreed to the post. However the appointment remains in the balance until the club’s American owners make the final decision.

Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi

RMC Sport have also revealed Thierry Henry’s possible first signing at Bordeaux.

Rather than being a player, he wants to bring in Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi.

Grimandi played with Henry during their Highbury days. However rather than being a scout, Henry wants Grimandi to be his number two at the Ligue 1 club.

Bordeaux’s poor Ligue 1 start

Bordeaux have started the season with two defeats from two games.

Strasbourg picked up a 2-0 away win at Bordeaux in round one of the new season. While Bordeaux lost 2-1 away at Toulouse last weekend.

However it’s not been a total disaster at the start of the campaign as Bordeaux have advanced in the Europa League qualifiers.

After wins against Ventspils and Mariupol, the French side have a qualifier lined up against Gent.

Win that two legged tie, and Bordeaux will be in the Europa League group phase.
