Man United’s 2020/21

The current campaign has seen Manchester United show signs of progress. However, it has also highlighted that they are not yet a top, top side.

At present, the Red Devils sit 2nd in the Premier League table, having lost just once since early November.

However, United have drawn far too many games which they should have won. Just recently, for example, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Premier League relegation battlers West Brom.

They also conceded a last-gasp goal vs Everton, which saw the Reds forced to settle for a point.

Such results of course separate a good side from a great one – such as Manchester City – who are once again steamrolling opponents en route to a predicted 3rd league title in four years.

The positions Solskjaer is eyeing

If United do hope to eventually begin truly competing with the likes of City, though, they need to strengthen several areas of the club’s squad.

The most obvious position is at centre-back, with the Manchester powerhouse boasting very little quality outside of Harry Maguire.

United also don’t possess a top, senior, out-and-out right-winger, with Mason Greenwood having been forced to deputise on the right for much of the last two seasons.

However, if the latest media speculation is to be believed, then the transfer chiefs at Old Trafford appear ready to reinforce such areas of concern in the near future.

As per Andy Mitten, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on signing a forward, right-winger and centre-back, with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde having already been scouted:
