The Real (Madrid) reason
Here’s the real reason David De Gea hasn’t been playing for Man United.
The Spaniard has missed Man United’s last two matches due to hip injury, which Jose Mourinho said was “not serious”.
But according to the Daily Star, interest in the player has unsettled Mourinho, causing him to drop his number 1 goalkeeper.
De Gea was extremely close to joining Real Madrid on deadline day in 2015, but an issue with Manchester United’s fax machine caused the move to fall through at the last moment.
Real Madrid fans are unhappy with Keylor Navas’ form this season and it seems Los Blancos have not lost interest in De Gea.
One of the Star’s “sources” said: “David wanted to join them two seasons ago but it obviously didn’t happen.”
“But Real Madrid have stayed on his radar. It’s difficult not to be interested in them if they want you.”
Romero to continue
Back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero kept a clean sheet at Sunderland on Sunday.
The Argentine is set to continue in goal on Thursday night for Man United’s Europa League quarter-final first leg at Anderlecht.
