Spurs have a verbal agreement to sign Sao Paulo striker Jonathan Calleri, claims dad [Yahoo Brasil]

Spurs to sign Calleri?

News coming out of Brazil has linked Tottenham with one of the best South American strikers bursting through the ranks.

22-year-old striker Jonathan Calleri made his name at Boca Juniors, where he won the Primera Division title in 2015, scoring 10 times in 25 matches for the Argentine giants over the campaign.

He’s since moved to Sao Paulo, where he has become the leading scorer in this season’s Copa Libertadores with eight goals in the competition.

It’s now been reported by Yahoo Brasil that the striker could be on his way to Tottenham this summer.

Guillermo Calleri likes to talk

That assertion has been made by the player’s dad, Guillermo Calleri, who has claimed his son has a verbal agreement to move to White Hart Lane this summer.

Spurs are in need of extra fire power, with Harry Kane the only real front-line attacker on the club’s books.

Whether the Spurs agreement is real, however, is up for debate.

Guillermo Calleri has a history of opening his mouth to the Brazilian press over possible moves of his son.

In the past he’s been linked to Inter Milan and Palermo.
