Southampton among clubs ‘paying close attention’ to Man United’s Brandon Williams

An update regarding the future of Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams has emerged online on Monday.
Williams’ Man United stint
Brandon Williams burst onto the Man United first-team scene last season.
The Red Devils youth product was handed his senior debut during a meeting with Rochdale in September of 2019.
And, over the months that followed, the England under-20 international went on to cement himself as a regular member of the club’s backline.
Williams was particularly impressive when operating at left-wing-back, as part of a back-five.
Towards the back end of the campaign, with Luke Shaw injured, however, Williams’ form took a considerable dip.
In turn, barring a couple of outings in the League Cup, Williams has hardly featured for United this term – making just two of the club’s Premier League matchday squads.

Southampton eyeing Williams
As such, with Williams majorly struggling for game-time, a January loan departure looks the most logical next step for the young full-back.
And, on Monday, word surrounding some of the potential landing spots for the Englishman has been forthcoming.
According to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, Southampton are one of several clubs paying close attention to Williams’ situation at United.
The stopper himself is said to have been open to a loan move to St Mary’s during the summer.
Any such deal, however, was blocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who, at the time, assured Williams that he was part of his plans for the 2020/21 campaign:
