The transfer window doesn’t reopen for months, and FC Barcelona have a transfer embargo placed on the club until 2016, however that hasn’t prevented Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo splashing their Wednesday edition with news of a possible signing at the Camp Nou.
According to the colourful front page of the paper, Barcelona will try to sign Shakhtar Donestk’s Brazilian winger Douglas Costa in the event that attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus fall through.
Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona were tracking Douglas Costa two years ago, and the Catalans plan to send scouts to watch the South American on Wednesday in the Champions League match at Bayern Munich.
Shakhtar head to Munich after drawing the first leg 0-0.
Looking at Marco Reus, the German international’s future was recently thrown into doubt after he signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund to keep him at the club until 2019.
Reus, whose previous contract contained a release clause that could have been activated for 25 million euros this summer, has been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona for some time.
As for Costa, he is under contract at Donetsk until June 2018.
