Erik Lamela & Inter Milan?
This week rumours are flying about linking Erik Lamela with a possible move to Inter Milan.
The stories have come out at the same time that Lamela played almost 90 minutes for Tottenham in the Champions League at Juventus.
The Argentine was a bit of a surprise starter in Turin, however Lamela impressed in the 2-2 draw.
With a minute remaining in the game, Lamela was replaced by Spurs debutant Lucas Moura.
‘Secret’ clause in Erik Lamela’s Spurs contract
On Thursday, ESPN have reported that Lamela could be a Tottenham player for quite a while to come.
The 25-year-old is under contract at Spurs until 2019. But it’s now been confirmed that Tottenham can extend his stay further:
Tottenham Hotspur are considering activating an option to extend Erik Lamela’s contract by a year.
Lamela signed a four-year contract worth around £65,000 a week with the option of two additional years when he joined Spurs in a then-club-record deal worth up to £30 million.
The deal has now become a four-plus-two-plus-one, although Spurs are in no rush to activate the one-year extension given Lamela’s history of injuries.
Lamela has made 17 appearance for Tottenham this season. He’s scored once, and chipped in with three assists.
Rochdale vs Tottenham
Spurs are back in action on Sunday when they take on Rochdale in the FA Cup.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side has got to this stage of the competition after beating AFC Wimbledon and then edging out Newport in a replay.
Beating Rochdale should be a formality for Spurs, and the hosts are bottom of League One.
