Il Mattino, Arsenal & Newcastle
Italian daily Il Mattino have posted an alarming update for Newcastle United fans on Monday.
The update also relates to Arsenal, as the gamer of managerial musical chairs has been started.
According to the the Italian paper, if Maurizio Sarri ends up joining Arsenal this summer, Rafa Benitez could be on his way back to Napoli.
Maurizio Sarri to Arsenal
Rumours linking Maurizio Sarri to Arsenal began in England over the weekend.
The Sunday Times believes that Sarri is the frontrunner to succeed Arsene Wenger.
Perhaps the key factor is Sarri’s record in punching above his weight with limited resources.
This season in Serie A, Sarri has lead Napoli to within touching distance of their first Scudetto since the heady days of Diego Maradona.
How Sarri also approaches the game is important. The Times detail:
Sarri’s principal attraction is the form of football he has implemented at Napoli, a front-foot, possession-centred, high-intensity game popular with many neutrals.
Yet there are negatives to Sarri, starting with his lack of English.
Then there’s the fact that prising him from Napoli may not be the easiest.
Rafa Benitez to Napoli
On Monday Il Mattino have recycled the Sarri to Arsenal inks in order to suggest that Rafa Benitez could return to Napoli.
Benitez has been touted to leave St James’ Park as the Magpies continue to be under Mike Ashley’s ownership.
Yet Benitez isn’t the only manager being considered by Napoli.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is also considering Simone Inzaghi and Unai Emery as possible successors to Sarri.
Arsenal betting odds
Below are latest odds on who will be the next Arsenal manager.
Sarri can be backed at 33/1.
