According to Gazzetta Dello Sport on Thursday, Roma’s directors will meet with Manchester United and Arsenal to discuss the sale of defender Mehdi Benatia after the player rejected a contract extension at the Giallorossi.
Aside from the two Premier League clubs, Bayern Munich are hotly tipped to be interested in the Moroccan international, while Chelsea have previously been linked to the 27-year-old too.
Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini and general manager Mauro Baldissoni are both said to be in London at the moment ready to talk to Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal, while Roma are also considering moves for Tottenham’s Vlad Chiriches or Man City’s Matija Nastasic in the event Benatia does indeed move to either the Emirates or Old Trafford.
Benatia is thought to be available for £30m, while the defender would undoubtedly be an asset for ether Arsenal or Man United, who both look slightly short at the back at the start of the new season.
