Do Real Madrid even need a new goalkeeper?
As Real Madrid prepare to play their third Champions League final in a row, the question that has to be asked is whether Los Blancos even need a new goalkeeper.
Keylor Navas does make the odd blunder, but the Costa Rica custodian also pulls off world class saves.
At 31, Navas is coming into the best years of his goalkeeping career and it is something of a surprise that Real Madrid remain so keen to replace him.
Real Madrid move for Roma’s Alisson
Whilst David De Gea was just a broken fax machine away from signing for Real Madrid, these days the Spanish giants have set their sights on Roma goalkeeper Alisson.
The Brazilian number one – ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson – enjoyed a fantastic season at Roma, who he helped guide to the Champions League semi-finals.
Corriere dello Sport report on Thursday that Roma sporting director Monchi met with Real Madrid a week ago.
Alisson: The 100m euro man!
In said meeting, Monchi told Real Madrid that they will have to stump up 100 million euros to sign Alisson.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is open to a move to Real Madrid but has not publicly confirmed that, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Alisson is quoted as saying: “I am very pleased to hear these discussions about me, but I am still focused on the work with Rome and Brazil. If I stay, we’ll talk about it later. Now I do not think about it, I’m very focused on the present. We have the game with Sassuolo and then there is the World Cup.”
Monchi is now hoping to convince Alisson to stay at the club with a new contract that will make him one of the best paid players at Roma.
Corriere dello Sport also point out that if Alisson does not move to Real Madrid, Los Blancos will try yet again for Manchester United’s David De Gea.
