Revealed: The two Villarreal stars Tottenham scouted vs Liverpool

Tottenham officials have been scouting two Villarreal talents recently, it has been reported.

Villarreal took on Liverpool in the second of two Champions League semi-final clashes this past Tuesday.

The Spanish side headed into the game 2-0 down but, after a dismal first half from Liverpool, were able to bring the score back on level terms.

Of course, Villarreal then collapsed in the second half and Liverpool went on to win 3-2, but it proved an impressive display from Unai Emery's side, nonetheless.

And, as per 90min, Tottenham officials were present at both legs of the tie to keep a watchful eye on transfer targets Pau Torres and Arnaut Danjuma.

Danjuma did not feature in the second leg, but was given 86 minutes in the first leg at Anfield, whilst Torres started both matches.

Said duo are believed to be on Spurs’ radar for the summer, though it is not stated whether an official bid will be forthcoming.

Tottenham & Torres

Tottenham’s interest in Torres does make a lot of sense given the fact that Antonio Conte employs a back-three and has no natural centre-back to play on the left of that three, with the role currently reserved for Ben Davies.

And whilst Torres did publicly state that he rejected Tottenham last summer, Villarreal have since collapsed in the league and are unlikely to be in the Europa League next term.

Spurs, meanwhile, are still in the race for the top-four in the Premier League, and guaranteed a top-six finish in 2021/22.
