The fee Manchester United are willing to pay for Pau Torres has been revealed.

Torres is a product of Spanish outfit Villarreal’s youth system. After honing his craft on loan with Malaga, Torres has since returned to Villarreal, where he has cemented himself as a key figure in Unai Emery’s side.

The 25-year-old notched 44 appearances across all competitions for El Submarino Amarillo last term, playing a crucial role in their first-ever Europa League triumph.

The 17-time capped international has also demonstrated his impressive passing range and ability on the ball over the last few seasons, a trait which all top centre-backs need to possess in the modern game.

Such impressive form saw Torres linked with a whole host of top clubs this past summer, including Tottenham.

Now though, it is Manchester United who are being linked with the Spaniard.

United clearly needed some fresh legs at centre-back, with the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Baily simply not up to scratch.

And with Villarreal now only set to be plying their trade in the Europa Conference League next term, prying the stopper away from Spain should be a lot easier than last term.

Now, as per Spanish outlet Marca, Manchester United are willing to splash out €50m for Pau Torres. The Spain international has long been linked with the Red Devils, and Erik ten Hah is reportedly keen to include him in a summer rebuild at Old Trafford.

There is no mention of Spurs’ interest in Torres. However, the Lilywhites are believed to be in the market for a left-sided centre-back this summer, which Torres is.

And with Tottenham in the Champions League next term, could they have the advantage over the Red Devils?
