Reguilon ‘wants to join Man United’/Sevilla drop out of race for the Spaniard

A fresh update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Sergio Reguilon has emerged on Monday afternoon.

Sevilla standout

Reguilon, 23, is a product of Real Madrid’s youth system.

However, to this point, he has managed just 22 appearances for Los Blancos’ senior side.

This struggle for regular first-team minutes eventually led to the left-back joining fellow Spanish outfit Sevilla on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.

And to say that the stopper went on to impress at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán would be something of an understatement.

Reguilon notched 31 La Liga appearances this past season, in which he scored two, assisted four, and helped Sevilla to secure a Champions League berth.

The stopper also played a key role in the club clinching their latest Europa League title last month.

It should too be noted that Sevilla were the owners of the third-tightest defence in the Spanish top-flight, with only the two Madrid clubs having conceded fewer goals.

Reguilon wants to join Man United

Such exploits have, unsurprisingly, seen Reguilon linked with a number of top sides, including Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United.

Of this trio, though, it appears to be United who are most likely to actually land the full-back, with it recently claimed that Reguilon had been offered to the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, though, up to this point, have faced stiff competition from Sevilla, with the player himself said to have been leaning towards a return to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

If the latest update courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is to be believed, though, then Man United now appear to have a much better chance of landing the defender.

This comes with Sevilla said to be out of the race for the Spaniard. Julen Lopetegui’s men have, on Monday, announced the signing of left-back Marcos Acuna.

It is added that Manchester United agreeing personal terms with Reguilon would likely not pose an issue, with the stopper keen on a move to Old Trafford.

The main stumbling block in any potential deal, however, appears to be the transfer fee, with the Red Devils reportedly not willing to meet Real Madrid’s €30m asking price:
