Alvaro Morata & James Rodriguez

The real reason Alvaro Morata did not join Manchester United from Real Madrid

Real wouldn’t let him go

Alvaro Morta’s failed move to Manchester United and their subsequent chase for Romelu Lukaku has been the story of the summer, and now it seems that there was a reason behind United’s sudden switch in players.

Real Madrid, according to the Express, did not want to allow Morata to leave, and were becoming increasingly concerned that they were letting a world class player leave.

That then led them to blocking the move at the last minute, despite United having offered the player £10 million a season to keep him at the club.

Jose Mourinho and United then turned their attentions to Romelu Lukaku, who of course snubbed Chelsea for the chance to join United.

Chelsea move?

Chelsea then of course turned their attention to Alvaro Morata, yet it seems that if Real Madrid were unwilling to let him leave for Manchester United, they would be equally reluctant to do so for Chelsea.

That may mean the Blues are left looking for another option – and have been linked most recently with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
