Real Madrid’s Luka Modric discusses his future: ‘I’m too old to go back to Tottenham’

Modric’s Real stint
Luka Modric joined Real Madrid all the way back in 2012.
And the Croatian has since, of course, gone on to play an integral role in Los Blancos’ successes.
All told, the 35-year-old has notched 350 appearances for Real, scoring 24 and assisting 55 along the way.
Modric has helped guide the Spanish champions to four Champions League crowns and two La Liga titles, whilst also bagging the Ballon d’Or back in 2018.

Modric plays down potential Tottenham return
However, the midfielder is now in the twilight years of his career, and has less than a year left on his current Real Madrid deal.
As a result, Modric was recently drawn on his plans for the future.
With Gareth Bale back at Spurs, the Tottenham faithful may have been holding out hope that Modric would follow suit in returning to north London to link up with the Welshman once again.
However, whilst Modric assured that he intends to continue playing football, the veteran also suggested that he is too old to go back to Tottenham:
“I’m too old to go back to Tottenham.
“I still have a year left in Madrid and then we’ll see what happens.
“I feel good and I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I am focused on Madrid and the things we can achieve this season.
“Afterwards I will sit down to talk to the management, and we will look for a suitable solution for everyone. I have forged a good relationship with all the people of the club and no matter what happens there will be no problem.”
