Liverpool keen on signing Marco Asensio
Some big transfer news has broken in Spain on Thursday, via Cadena Cope and AS, who both report that Liverpool are keen on Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio.
At just 21, Asensio has established himself as a key player for Real Madrid, despite all their attacking talent.
And, Asensio was a key player for Real Madrid in their recent 6-3 aggregate win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Asensio is a key player for Zinedine Zidane
The Spanish youngster scored the final goal of the tie and also set up Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid’s second away goal in the Allianz Arena.
Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool’s bid of 50 million euros for Asensio was rejected by Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have no intention of selling Asensio. And the youngster is also keen to continue his career at the Bernabeu.
Would Liverpool spend 50 million euros on one player?
In addition, AS report that Asensio has the full trust of Zinedine Zidane, who sees the Spanish attacker as a key first team player in 2017/2018.
This is one reason why Zidane is keen for James Rodriguez to leave Real Madrid this summer.
It seems somewhat questionable that Liverpool would make such a huge bid for a player unlikely to leave Real Madrid.
Asensio is contracted to the La Liga leaders until 2022 and having signed a new deal last summer, is probably looking for a further reward after his recent fantastic displays.
Liverpool’s record signing was Sadio Mane, overtaking Andy Carroll and their record fee currently stands at 34 million pounds.
