Scottish giants Rangers are on the verge of closing a deal for an out-of-favour member of the defensive setup at Liverpool, according to reports.

The Reds star primed to take his talents to Ibrox? Ben Davies.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, alongside a host of other reliable sources, Rangers are in the process of 'finalising' a deal for central defender Davies, worth a fee in the region of £4 million.

This comes after the 26-year-old, brought to Anfield as something of an emergency signing in January of 2021, spent last season on loan in the Championship, with Sheffield United.

Rangers, desperate for reinforcements at the heart of the club's backline ahead of the imminent departure of Calvin Bassey, in turn, have swooped decisively.

Davies' arrival is set to mark the 6th signing of what has proven an altogether productive summer transfer window on the blue half of Glasgow to date.

Also linking up with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's troops ahead of the fast-approaching new campaign have been all of Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, John Souttar, and Malik Tillman, albeit with the latter on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.
