Newcastle 2 – Arsenal 1
Days after Newcastle beat Arsenal in the Premier League, chatter is spreading that Rafa Benitez could succeed Arsene Wenger at the Gunners.
Arsene lost at St James’ Park after taking the lead through Alexander Lacazette.

Rafa Benitez talks to Radio Marca
Following the Arsenal game, Rafa Benitez has given an interview to Radio Marca.
Benitez cooled talk of his leaving the Magpies for the Gunners.
While the Spanish boss admitted he’s “flattered” by the Arsenal talk, he indicated he’s planning to stay at Newcastle next season:
Yes, in principal we are relaxed.
We have one more year of contract and now the board are trying that we talk a little bit about the future because the talk now is always about ‘projects’.
With so much investment it is increasingly difficult, but they want to link us to the club for more time so that we can make a stronger team if possible.
The fact that you get linked (with clubs like Arsenal), it is something positive because it makes you proud of your career trajectory.
Arsenal may start their 2018-19 season in July
There are now fears over how long Arsenal will get to rest during the off-season.
Of course, many of Arsenal’s squad will be heading to Russia this summer to compete in the World Cup.
But it’s possible that Arsenal’s 2018-19 season starts just 11 days after the World Cup final.
– Arsenal don't win Europa League
– Burnley overtake them in the Premier League
– Southampton don't win FA Cup
Arsenal's season would kick off on July 26 with the second preliminary round of the Europa League, 11 days after the World Cup Final
