Mbappe wants Real Madrid
The path of Kylian Mbappé has been clear for some time now, at least in the immediate future.
Paris Saint-Germain’s French starlet has made his position clear; he wants a move to Real Madrid and has refused every contract offer that has come his way. The same sentiment has been echoed by club sporting director and former PSG midfielder Leonardo; the Parisian outfit will not stand in Mbappé’s way if he refuses to buy into the project at the Parc des Princes.
But it has not been for lack of effort by Leonardo and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. With summer business completed for Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, Danilo Pereira, and Achraf Hakimi, it is evidently clear that Les Parisiens are building a side to regain the top spot in Ligue1, but also to finally achieve a Champions League win.
Leonardo speaks out
A potential front-three of Messi, Mbappé, and Neymar is a downright absurdity. And despite Mbappé no longer being the biggest name at the club with Messi’s arrival, Leonardo remained adamant that the current build still views him as the centerpiece of the club’s goals. When speaking with RMC, Leonardo confirmed that;
“We made two important offers to Mbappé: one for the top players in the squad two months ago and one above these players very recently. We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the center of the project, but not above the project”
However, if Mbappé is to remain determined to break away from the club, then PSG are set to dig their heels in and wait for the appropriate fee to be agreed between the two clubs; and this is something that Leonardo was quite clear on;
“Real Madrid official offer is very far from what we want for Kyilian. Yes, it’s around €160m. It’s less than what we paid for him in 2017.
We have no plans to talk to Real again for Mbappé. The deadline is August 31 at midnight. This is how the transfer window is: we keep him and we extend. But we’re not going to let him go for less than what we paid when we still owe Monaco money.
We never opened the door to a departure of Kylian Mbappé. Never. People say that I want to sell and not Nasser, but me or Nasser thinks the same thing. We are on the same point. But if a player wants to LEAVE, it’s on our terms.
We have NO plan to talk with Real Madrid again. Will Madrid raise the offer? I don’t know. I only know what I said in relation to Madrid’s attitude. They have been working on Mbappé for two years, talking to everyone, the family…
Real Madrid bid for Mbappé seems like a strategy to show they were trying every way to sign Kylian and that’s it. They’ve been disrespectful, incorrect, illegal and unacceptable. We’re NOT accepting €160m. If he wants to go, it will be for our conditions.”
