Potential West Ham blow as AC Milan express interest in Tammy Abraham

Potential West Ham blow as AC Milan express interest in Tammy Abraham

Abraham out of favour

Chelsea, barring an altogether peculiar 5-2 hammering at the hands of West Brom, have looked pretty solid under Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues have lost just twice since the German’s arrival, and sit just a 0-0 draw away from a Champions League final, with an FA Cup showpiece meeting with Leicester still to come later this month.

However, whilst the majority of the club’s stars have benefited from Tuchel’s arrival, Tammy Abraham has not.

The 23-year-old remains the Blues’ top scorer in all competitions this season. Yet Tuchel appears to favour all of Olivier Giroud, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz over the hitman.

Granted, Abraham has endured some injury issues since Tuchel took over. But even since recovering full fitness, the English international has continued to struggle for game-time.

Even on Saturday, when Tuchel opted for a weakened starting eleven vs Fulham, Abraham was limited to 14 minutes of action.

AC Milan interested in Abraham

In turn, with the Englishman continuing to find himself out of favour, it is not all that surprising to see his name linked with a potential transfer.

West Ham have previously been tipped to land Abraham, for whom Chelsea are said to want around £40m.

With Michail Antonio the Hammers’ only real striking option at present, it is clear that David Moyes’ squad requires reinforcements up top, especially if they secure Europa League football for next term.

So, bringing in Abraham would likely represent a savvy piece of business for West Ham. However, according to the Evening Standard:

AC Milan could offer Tammy Abraham a way out of Chelsea — delivering a blow to West Ham’s hopes of landing the England striker.

It is added that the Italian outfit are one of a host of clubs who have been put on alert by Tuchel’s handling of Abraham, and are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer.
