Is Mesut Ozil joining Manchester United?

The future of Mesut Ozil looks like being one that dominates the football gossip pages for quite some time.

The German playmaker has less than a year left on his Arsenal contract and over recent days has been heavily linked with Manchester United.

On Friday, John Cross in the Daily Mirror reported that Ozil has told Arsenal team mates he will be joining Manchester United.

This comes amid the fact that Arsenal no longer seem keen on keeping Ozil. And, may let the German superstar and Alexis Sanchez leave in January.

Ozil posts on Instagram pre Everton v Arsenal

Ahead of Everton v Arsenal on Sunday, Mesut Ozil has posted on Instagram.

It featured a short message from Ozil and a picture of the Arsenal star in training.

Ozil wrote: “Ignore the noise and stay focused!”

Many of the commenters on Mesut Ozil’s Instagram page are already trying to work out what “ignore the noise” means.

Undoubtedly, Ozil appears to be putting transfer speculation to one side in order to prepare for a crucial Arsenal match at Everton.

With Everton in dire straits, this looks like a game Arsenal can win.

The comments on the Instagram are a mix of asking Ozil to sign a new Arsenal contract, whilst others post snake emojis and urge him to leave.

Do Manchester United need Mesut Ozil?

After today’s 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town there will be a lot of Manchester United fans wondering whether Ozil is the player they need.

Whilst he would not have provided much fight or desire, his quality to release the likes of Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford is clearly needed.
