David Ornstein speaks!
As everyone knows by now, the BBC’s David Ornstein is one of the most reliable journalists in England.
David Ornstein is often the first to break news regarding Arsenal.
And the day before the January transfer window closes, Ornstein has appeared on BBC TV to discuss deals connecting Arsenal and Chelsea.
Aubameyang to Arsenal, Giroud to Chelsea
When will it be official?
Arsenal fans are waiting patiently for the Gunners to confirm the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
By all accounts that deal with Borussia Dortmund will complete before February 1.
But there’s a twist in the Aubameyang saga involving Chelsea, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud.
Olivier Giroud was seen by Borussia Dortmund as a good replacement for Aubameyang. However, the French striker then received an offer from Chelsea.
As is well known, after rejecting the advances of Everton in the summer, Giroud and his family prefer to stay in London.
However, then Chelsea pulled their interest in Giroud, with Antonio Conte reportedly not that keen on signing the Frenchman.
Enter Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente!
As a result, Chelsea decided to move for Fernando Llorente again. The Blues missed out on the Spanish striker in the summer, when he joined Spurs from Swansea.
Chelsea offered Spurs Michy Batshuayi, in return for Llorente.
Unsurprisingly, considering Spurs and Chelsea rarely do business, nobody agreed to that deal.
‘We’re at an impasse’
Cutting to the chase, it’s unclear how all the transfers will play out.
According to Ornstein there is an “impasse” in the deals.
How will it all pan out?
