Real Madrid to rebuff expected initial bid for Martin Ødegaard

Arsenal’s continued interest in Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Ødegaard is expected to heat up in the coming days. But despite the financial issues ripping through Spanish football, Real Madrid is expected to rebuff the Gunners’ initial approach for the Norwegian international, thought to be around £50-million.

Ødegaard is highly thought of in north London after what has been viewed as a successful loan spell for both the player and the club. Manager Mikel Arteta is quite fond of the player as well, and with Arsenal potentially unwilling to meet the asking price of Leicester City’s James Maddison, Ødegaard would present a logical option to target given their established connection.

Real Madrid is said to be unwilling to consider another loan deal, and any move by Ødegaard will have to be a full deal with the club holding out for a fee closer to the region of the €60m-€70m range. The recent injuries suffered by midfield maestro Toni Kroos and fellow former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos, along with the aging profile of Luka Modrić are also thought to reinforce the clubs’ stance on if they are to lose access to the player, financial restitution must be received.

Luka Jović on Manchester United’s radar

Serbian international Luka Jović has once again been linked with a potential move away from Real Madrid this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Red Devil’s being mooted with potential interest.

Jović, who set Europe alight during a brilliant period at Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt before securing a big-money move to the Spanish capital, has failed to hit the ground running at the Santiago Bernabeu and has already left the club once on a temporary basis last season when he returned to Deutsche Bank Park on loan.

With Karim Benzema remaining as a vital piece of the puzzle in Madrid, Jović could be offered an escape to Old Trafford amongst a host of young attacking players the likes of new boy Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood. Though the FK Crvena Zvezda youth product has 4-years remaining on his Real Madrid contract, United could be tempted to make a formal approach for the 23-year-old in a bid to secure a long-term center-forward option.

Chelsea’s Antonio Rüdiger could offer a centre-back solution

German international centre-back Antonio Rüdiger is set to consider his options as the Chelsea man has entered the final year of his contract with the holding Champions League winners.

According to SkySports and reported on in the Express, the VfB Stuttgart academy graduate and native of Berlin – now 28-years-old – is considering a move away from the club to secure what could be viewed as the most important contract of his career as he enters his prime playing years.

Real Madrid has been linked with interest in the German, as have free-spending Paris Saint-Germain. PSG has already acquired Sergio Ramos this summer while retaining the likes of Brazilian international Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Abdou Diallo, and Thilo Kehrer. Given the situation in Madrid, who can only count David Alaba (29), Éder Militão (23), and Nacho Fernández (31) after losing both Ramos and Varane this summer, surely Los Blancos presents a more logical destination if he is to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge.
