Ross Barkley

Odds on Spurs target Ross Barkley joining Man United slashed

Could Ross Barkley join Manchester United?

Earlier this week, the Ross Barkley to Tottenham rumours moved up a notch.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Barkley for some time, and the midfielder does not seem keen to sign a new deal at Everton.

With just one season left on his contract at Everton, Barkley seems likely to leave the club in the coming weeks.

Once Spurs sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a world record fee for a defender, Barkley rumours began again.

Ross Barkley rumours

First off, we were told that Tottenham hoped to sign Barkley before they went on their US tour yesterday.

Then came the suggestion that Barkley was asking Tottenham to be their highest paid player. This was swiftly followed by a denial and then links to Manchester United and Chelsea.

It is pretty difficult to swallow these rumours of Manchester United’s supposed interest since the Red Devils clearly need a defensive midfielder, rather than an attacking one.

Odds slashed in half on Barkley joining Lukaku at United

Manchester United may not be finished with Everton as far as summer transfers go, according to Ladbrokes.

The Red Devils have seen their odds of signing Ross Barkley slashed from 12/1 to just 6/1, with long-time favourites Tottenham Hotspur continuing to drift (from 1/5 to 4/6).

That means United have leapfrogged Chelsea and Arsenal and are now second-favourites for the England man’s signature.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Everton are playing hardball with Spurs over Barkley’s price, but if there’s one club more than happy to splash the cash it’s United – and we’re not ruling out a summer switch from Merseyside to Manchester for the midfielder.”

Odds on Ross Barkley club after summer

Tottenham – 4/6
Man United – 6/1 (from 12/1 yesterday)
Chelsea – 7/1
Arsenal – 10/1
Man City – 16/1
West Ham – 20/1
AC Milan – 20/1
