No signings in January as Wenger aims to tie down 5 Arsenal players [Sun]

Just Cohen Bramall for Arsenal in January…

It looks like being a very quiet January for Arsenal in terms of incoming players.

Last week, Arsene Wenger confirmed the signing of left back Cohen Bramall from Hednesford Town.

On Sunday, The Sun report that Arsene Wenger will not be making any more January signings past the non-league left back as he is solely concerned with arranging contracts for five first team players.

Arsene Wenger is hoping Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla will all sign new deals at Arsenal.

Both Alexis and Ozil have 18 months left to run on their current deals at Arsenal.

Both Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin are thought to be close to signing new Arsenal contracts. The Sun report that Giroud is still negotiating with the Gunners and there is a “£20,000-a-week difference in price.”

Were Arsenal to sign any players, The Sun claim that the likes of Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic, Andrea Belotti of Torino and Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg) are players of interest.

Meanwhile, in the Sunday Telegraph, there are suggestions that PSG have told Alexis Sanchez to wait until this summer before leaving the Gunners. By then he would have just under a year left on his contract…
