N’Golo Kante set to leave Leicester this summer
Of all of Leicester’s star players that guided The Foxes to an incredible Premier League title in 2015/2016, the most likely to leave the club appears to be French defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Signed from Caen last summer, Kante was instrumental in Leicester’s success in front of The Foxes defence.
Kante won the players’ player of the year award at Leicester, which pretty much sums up his importance to Claudio Ranieri’s side.
PSG desperate for Kante
In the early stages of this summer transfer window, Le Parisien have been a strong source of gossip when it comes to N’Golo Kante.
Primarily due to the interest from PSG but also since Kante has French representatives.
Le Parisien report on Wednesday that PSG remain desperate to sign Kante, who looks likely to start for France at Euro 2016.
PSG have prioritised strengthening their midfield this summer and see Kante as the ideal signing.
The Ligue 1 champions have spoken with Kante’s representatives twice this summer and have another meeting planned this weekend.
PSG will offer Kante a significant wage increase and the player is considering the proposal.
Leicester look to have lost Kante
Le Parisien confirm what has been known for some time, that Kante’s release clause is 25 million euros.
They also report that Leicester have offered Kante new terms in recent weeks, in a bid to sign him on longer terms with the club and to remove the release clause. This offer has been rejected by the dynamic defensive midfielder.
Premier League options for Kante
With Kante’s release clause set at 25 million euros, Le Parisien maintain that the midfielder wants to stay in the Premier League.
PSG face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea. Le Parisien add that Arsenal are the favourites due to the fact they will be playing Champions League football next season.
Although whether Arsene Wenger will be after Kante, having signed Granit Xhaka, remains to be seen.
Pep Guardiola is also tipped to move for Kante to solidify his midfield at Manchester City, whilst in the English press Jose Mourinho has also been rumoured to be interested as well.
Bad news for Leicester, but it looks like one of the Premier League giants could well snare Kante for a very reasonable price.
