Will N’Golo Kante stay at Leicester?
Of all the Leicester City stars from their incredible Premier League title victory in 2015/2016, the one most likely to leave appears to be N’Golo Kante.
This past week, Le Parisien revealed that Kante has rejected a new deal at Leicester which means the defensive midfielder can leave the Premier League champions for just 25 million euros.
Whilst Leicester would make a big profit on Kante, to lose the defensive midfielder for a minimal fee would surely be hard to take…
Kante asked about his summer plans
On Saturday, whilst with the France national team preparing for Euro 2016, Kante was asked about whether he will stay at Leicester this summer.
Kante replied, as quoted by L’Equipe: “For now, I am happy at Leicester. I do not pay too much attention to everything that is said. For now, I am in Leicester and I focus on the Euros.”
Leicester fans will note the two “For nows” which suggest Kante is playing his cards close to his chest.
PSG v Arsenal for N’Golo Kante
According to L’Equipe the two clubs chasing Kante the hardest right now are Ligue 1 champions PSG and Arsenal.
The Parisians are looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of another assault on the Champions League.
From an Arsenal perspective, the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach suggests Arsene Wenger will look at other positions before signing another defensive midfielder.
If Kante is so open to leaving Leicester, it would be a huge surprise were Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United not to make a move for the defensive midfielder.
Kante joined Leicester from Caen for just 5 million euros last summer and was voted Players’ Player of the year by his team mates after a stunning season.
