World record fee: Neymar ‘agrees’ deal to join PSG

Neymar & PSG

Huge news has been dropped by the giant Brazilian news outlet Esporte Interativo.

They’ve told their almost two million strong Twitter community that Neymar has agreed a deal with PSG to leave FC Barcelona.

The source of the rumour is a Brazilian journalist called Marcelo Bechler, who also works for Lance!, while it’s claimed the announcement will be made in the next few weeks.

He also claims that Neymar will sign for PSG for 222 million euros!

It’s all confusing

While Esporte Interativo claim a Neymar-PSG deal is done, there’s also claims to the contrary.

On Monday, rumours started in Sport, the Catalan newspaper, suggesting Neymar was unhappy at Barcelona and was considering his future.

Sport suggested that there were people in Neymar’s entourage that feel the Brazilian will never win the Ballon d’Or with Barcelona, whilst he plays alongside Leo Messi.

And, that although Neymar isn’t thinking about leaving right now, the Brazilian is considering his future options.

That was followed just a few hours later by a report from the usually reliable Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio: PSG are ready to pay Neymar’s release clause at Barcelona.

Neymar is happy at Barcelona

Spanish radio station Cope have an update on Neymar and it should see Barcelona supporters breathe easier about their star Brazilian forward.

Neymar is happy at Barcelona and has no intention to agitate for a move. The former Santos star is contracted until 2021, with a release clause worth 222 million euros.

The representatives of Neymar and the player himself are outraged about the rumours that began on Monday in Sport.

Neymar is happy in Barcelona and enjoys living in the city. He has no intention of leaving the La Liga giants and has not come to any agreement with PSG.

So, how did the Neymar rumours start?

Since very few people felt there was much chance of Neymar leaving Barcelona, perhaps the most interesting angle on this story is how the PSG rumours began.

Cope suggest that this was a ploy from PSG, after all the pressure Barcelona have put on them regarding Italian midfielder Marco Verratti.

The Neymar rumours were intended to destabilise Barcelona and the player, which was a “vendetta” tactic from the Ligue 1 side.

Meanwhile, as you might expect, Barcelona have also told Cope they have no intention of selling Neymar…
