Newcastle’s number one priority ahead of January transfer window revealed

Newcastle’s number one priority ahead of January transfer window revealed

The player Newcastle United are targeting as their number one priority ahead of January has been revealed recently.

Newcastle need to spend

Eddie Howe was named as Newcastle’s new head coach last month.

Howe joined whilst facing up to the mammoth task of keeping the North East outfit in the top-flight.

At present, though, that seems pretty unlikely after 14 games of the campaign. Newcastle are dead bottom of the Premier League table, and are the only side in the division yet to pick up a single win this term.

They also have the worst defence at present, having conceded a hefty 30 goals in just 14 games.

In turn, given the size of the task facing Howe, it seems imperative that Newcastle spend well in the upcoming January transfer window.

And the club’s new boss is seemingly being backed to do so, with it reported that the former Bournemouth man could have £50m to spend in the winter market, as well as bringing some players in on loan.

Newcastle’s no.1 priority

Now, as we edge closer to January, an insight into who Newcastle are targeting has been revealed.

As reported by The Times’ Martin Hardy, Newcastle have made Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard their priority in the January transfer window.

It is added that the Magpies are willing to offer Lingard a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

And, though Lingard is out of contract in the summer, The Times claim that Newcastle are ready to offer a substantial transfer sum to sign him in the winter window:
