Naby Keita’s next club confirmed after Liverpool exit

The long-discussed future of soon-to-be former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has, on Friday, finally been confirmed.

This, of course, comes after the powers that be on the red half of Merseyside opted against offering up fresh terms to the Guinean.

Amid ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the club’s ailing midfield, all of Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have this summer been allowed to seek out new clubs, on free transfers.

And Keita, boasting undeniable talent despite his long-standing injury woes, has not taken at all long to secure a new contract.

As confirmed late on Friday evening, the 28-year-old has been snapped up by Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.

‘SV Werder Bremen have pulled off the signing of midfielder Naby Keïta on a free transfer from Premier League side Liverpool,’ an official statement across the club’s social media platforms reads.

Werder are understood to have beaten out competition from a number of rival suitors, ahead of the expiration of Keita’s Liverpool stint at the end of the month.

The midfielder leaves behind a Reds legacy of 129 appearances, and seven major trophies across his five-year spell with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
