Monaco confirm Man United target Kylian Mbappe has a release clause

Everyone is still going nuts about Kylian Mbappe

It was another special night for Monaco and Kylian Mbappe on Wednesday as they reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Monaco beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 and to no one’s surprise, Mbappe scored again.

The staggeringly talented 18-year-old also now has another rather impressive statistic to his name:

Kylian Mbappe is the first player to score in all four of his first Champions League knockout games!

Even Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t do that…

Monaco open up about Mbappe

Perhaps somewhat carried away by reaching the Champions League semi-finals, Monaco sporting director Antonio Cordon spoke to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser and opened up about Mbappe.

The Monaco supremo was asked whether Real Madrid have bid for Mbappe, he replied: “The truth is they haven’t.”

Cordon added: “I hope that Mbappe continues with us for a long time and gives us many great nights of football. He is a player that has had an important progression and has deserved it. He is going strong.”

Mbappe has a release clause at Monaco

On whether Mbappe has the quality to play for Real Madrid, Cordon added: “Only time will tell. There are many factors to consider in order for a player to succeed. He is still very young. We will see what happens this summer – we expect it to be a long one.”

Somewhat surprisingly, Cordon then revealed that Mbappe has a release clause at Monaco: “I hope he stays for the good of Monaco, but we know how the market works and what football is like. He has a clause and it’s quite a lot of money. I don’t know exactly how much, but it’s a lot.”

It will be fascinating to see how Mbappe’s career pans out after such an excellent start to life at Monaco.
