It looks increasingly like Arsenal have made their first foray into the transfer market this winter.
Ahram Online are today carrying a report claiming Mohamed Elneny has already had his medical at Arsenal on Saturday, and the Basel midfielder is set to complete his move to the Gunners on Sunday.
Reports emerged on Saturday, via the likes of John Cross (Daily Mirror) and Jeremy Wilson (Daily Telegraph), both fairly reliable scribes when it comes to Arsenal, that the Gunners were close to signing Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny.
On Sunday, Egyptian football website King Fut have confirmed that Elneny will sign for Arsenal on Wednesday. But now it seems like the timetable has been quickened up.
Ahram Online claim to have spoken with the player, who is on the verge of a £6.5m move to the Emirates Stadium. As written on their English website:
The 23-year-old told Ahram’s Arabic news website that he had undergone a medical at Arsenal on Saturday and will put pen to paper on a contract with the Gunners later on Sunday.
The news outlet also report that Arsenal are yet to confirm their updates.
Video evidence of Mohamed Elneny is below.
