Barcelona’s right-back quest
For quite some time, the Spanish press have been building up belief that Barcelona are on the lookout for a new right-back.
Much of the conversation has been wrapped up in the issues surround Aleix Vidal, who has gone from being the likely successor to Dani Alves to becoming a pariah at the Camp Nou in a matter of months.
It’s now next-to-certain that Vidal will leave Barca in the near future, while Barca had hoped to sign Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin instead.
But that avenue was shut down recently, when Bellerin signed a contract renewal with the Gunners.
On Tuesday, a new name is thrusted into the mix by Catalan daily Sport.
A star Ukrainian full-back
The latest defender linked to Barca is Shakhtar Donetsk and Croatian legend Darijo Srna.
While Srna is at the end of his career, the 34-year-old is an option due to his “experience and zero cost”.
Srna is out of contract in 2017.
