Mikel Arteta has recently been quizzed on Arsenal's links to Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian is out of contract in 2023 and seemingly not eager to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
Reports earlier this year claimed that Arsenal had identified the 25-year-old as one of their top targets, with Tielemans’ contract situation sparking interest from several clubs.
Arteta was also said to be eyeing a midfielder who can operate as an eight on the left of a three, which Tielemans can.
So far, no move has transpired, and Arsenal have brought in Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, though he is expected to take up a more advanced role in the Gunners’ midfield.
However, the door for a Tielemans to Arsenal transfer still appears to be open.
With Betfair, Arsenal are the current favourites to sign the Belgian international, at odds of 10/11.
And, when asked about the possibility of landing Tielemans on Friday, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta did not rule out the possibility:
"There are more things that we would like to do if we can," Arteta told reporters after a 5-3 friendly win over Nurnberg.
"Obviously the market will dictate what we can do. So far we are happy with what we have done."
