Mason Mount expected to leave Chelsea amid contract standoff

Mason Mount’s future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question as talks over a new contract stall.

Talks with Mount were halted after the 24-year-old rejected an offer feeling it left him below what other senior players and new signings are earning at Stanford Bridge.

Mount has 18 months left on his current deal and wants to treble his £80,000-a-week wages but the club are offering significantly less than they are paying expensive recruits like Raheem Sterling.

Having spent more than £300m on players in January alone, academy graduates like Mount are keen they are seen as an important part of the future and not taken for granted.

However, Mount has a ridiculous amount of competition for his spot at the Bridge.

All of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Joao Felix, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount are competing for three positions, with Christopher Nkunku also expected to arrive in the summer.

This leaves Mount with a serious fight on his hands and as Chelsea have paid or will pay big money for a number of those stars, they are likely to see more game time in the coming months.
