Manchester United stance revealed as two clubs chase midfielder Donny van de Beek

The future of Dutch international midfielder Donny van de Beek remains up in the air after reports have once again linked the Ajax Amsterdam academy product with another move away from Old Trafford.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano tweeted about an exclusive stating that both Premier League outfit Crystal Palace and La Liga side Valencia are keen to bring the 24-year-old on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

Van de Beek remains very much on the outside looking in at United despite Ralf Rangnick taking over as interim manager in the wake of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s departure earlier this season, making just eight substitute appearances in the Premier League this term while logging a paltry 68-minutes of action across them.

Despite his limited action for the Red Devils, Rangnick is said to be reluctant to let him leave, and more frustratingly, United is planning for his involvement next season and unwilling to consider any purchase option should he secure a temporary move away from the club.

Manchester United planning four summer additions

Manchester United remains keen on adding to the first-team squad next season regardless of who the manager is on the Old Trafford touchline after it was earlier reported that the Red Devils plan to bring in up to four new faces in the summer transfer window.

West Ham star Declan Rice was directly mentioned in the report as interest in the England international continues to grow after one influential display after another this season at the London Stadium under David Moyes.

While no other specific targets were tabled, it is thought that central reinforcements remain viewed with the utmost importance (perhaps why the club would prefer to keep Donny van de Beek), especially if star figure Paul Pogba does not extend terms and leaves on a free transfer.

The club could also be in for both a center-back and a goalkeeper with the futures of the likes of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Dean Henderson are all uncertain. With Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial increasingly likely to leave, and center-forward pair Edinson Cavani out of contract in the summer and Cristiano Ronaldo pushing 37, a center-forward is likely to be looked at as well.
